Ujjain Package from Bangalore

Two Jyotirlingas. One journey. Blessings that stay with you long after.

A complete Jyotirlinga pilgrimage covering Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, and Indore — thoughtfully planned, comfortably travelled, and experienced the way a sacred journey deserves to be.

Journey Highlights

You Do Not Keep Postponing a Pilgrimage — Like This Without a Reason.

Most People Do Not Delay a Pilgrimage Because they Lack Faith.
They Delay It Because Life Keeps Winning.

Work schedules. Family responsibilities. Finding the right time. Coordinating leave. Deciding whether elderly parents can manage the travel. Figuring out where to stay, how to travel between temples, and whether everything can actually be covered peacefully in a few days.

And so the thought stays in the background.

“Someday, we should go to Mahakaleshwar.”

But certain journeys never truly leave you.
They return quietly — during difficult phases, moments of gratitude, or times when you simply feel called to pause and reconnect with something deeper.

What many travellers realize only after they begin planning is this: a proper Ujjain pilgrimage is rarely just about one temple.

It is a sacred circuit through two of India’s most revered Jyotirlingas — Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain and Omkareshwar on the banks of the Narmada — along with spiritually significant places across Ujjain and Indore that devotees often wait years to visit.

The spiritual pull is powerful.
The logistics, however, can quickly become exhausting.

Flights from Bangalore. Hotel stays across multiple cities. Long road transfers. Darshan timings that change with temple crowds. Coordinating elderly-friendly travel. Managing sightseeing without making the journey feel rushed.

What begins as a spiritual intention can slowly start feeling like an operations exercise.

That is where Shree Sai Holidays quietly changes the experience.

Instead of spending weeks piecing everything together yourself, you travel knowing the route, stay, transfers, temple visits, and pacing have already been thoughtfully planned — so your attention can remain where it was meant to be all along.

What This Pilgrimage Actually Covers

This is not a single-temple trip. In three days from Bangalore, this itinerary takes you through two Jyotirlingas, five significant temples in Ujjain, a historic fort on the banks of the Narmada, and the cultural heart of Madhya Pradesh — all without a single day feeling wasted or rushed.

Here is the full picture:

Ujjain — One of the seven sacred cities believed to grant Moksha in Hindu tradition. Home to Mahakaleshwar, the only south-facing Jyotirlinga among the twelve, and a city whose spiritual energy is unlike anywhere else in India.

Omkareshwar — A natural island in the Narmada River shaped like the sacred symbol Om. The Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple here draws devotees from across the country — and standing on that island, with the river on all sides, is an experience that stays with you long after you return home.

Maheshwar — A historic town on the Narmada, known for its stunning riverside fort, the Rajarajeshwari Temple, and the handwoven Maheshwari silk sarees that have been made here for centuries.

Indore — The cultural and commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh. The Khajrana Ganesh Temple, Rajwada Palace, and Lal Bagh Palace round off the journey with blessings and heritage in equal measure.

Two Jyotirlingas. Multiple Shakti Peetha and significant temples. Three cities. Three days. One carefully planned journey.

Detailed Itinerary

Two Days Beautifully Structured

Day 1
Bangalore to Ujjain
The Sacred Beginning

There is something about boarding an early morning flight for a pilgrimage that feels different from any other kind of travel. The city is still quiet. The day has not yet begun. And you are already on your way to one of India’s holiest cities.

The IndiGo flight departs Bangalore at 7:30 AM and arrives in Indore at 9:25 AM. From Indore, the group travels by road to Ujjain — approximately 55 kilometres, about an hour’s drive through the heartland of Madhya Pradesh.

Ujjain is one of the seven sacred cities in Hindu tradition, believed to grant Moksha — liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Arriving here for the first time carries a weight that is difficult to describe and impossible to manufacture. It simply has to be felt.

After hotel check-in and lunch, the afternoon belongs entirely to the temples.

The pilgrimage begins at Mahakaleshwar Temple — one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, and the only one that faces south. The darshan here is the spiritual centerpiece of the entire journey, and the itinerary is structured to give it the time and attention it deserves.

The temple trail continues through the afternoon:
• Harsiddhi Mata Temple — one of the Shakti Peethas, dedicated to Goddess Durga
• Gadkalika Temple — associated with the great Sanskrit poet Kalidasa
• Kal Bhairav Temple — dedicated to the fierce and protective form of Lord Shiva
• Mangalnath Temple — considered the birthplace of the planet Mars in Hindu astrology

Dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay in Ujjain.
Morning: Flight Bangalore → Indore (7:30 AM – 9:25 AM) · Road transfer to Ujjain
Afternoon: Hotel check-in · Lunch · Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Darshan

Night: Dinner
Overnight stay in Ujjain
Day 2
Ujjain to Omkareshwar to Maheshwar to Indore
Blessings at the Narmada — and a Town That Time Remembered

The second day is the longest in distance and arguably the richest in experience.

After breakfast and check-out, the group travels toward Omkareshwar — a journey through the Madhya Pradesh countryside that has its own quiet beauty. Upon arrival, devotees cross the Narmada River by ferry to reach the sacred island where the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple stands.

The island itself is shaped like the sacred symbol Om — a geographical fact that devotees have known for centuries and that continues to move visitors in a way that no explanation quite prepares you for. The darshan at Omkareshwar is the second of the two Jyotirlingas on this journey, and standing in that temple, surrounded by the Narmada on all sides, is a moment that belongs to the pilgrim alone.

From Omkareshwar, the group proceeds to Maheshwar — a town on the southern bank of the Narmada that carries centuries of history in its stones. The Maheshwar Fort, built by the legendary queen Ahilyabai Holkar, looks out over the river with a calm authority that feels timeless. Darshan at the Rajarajeshwari Temple within the fort complex, followed by time to explore the serene riverside ghats.

For those interested, Maheshwar is also renowned for its handwoven Maheshwari silk sarees — one of India’s most distinctive textile traditions. Local shops offer the opportunity to take home an authentic piece of Maheshwar’s heritage.

The evening ends with the drive to Indore, hotel check-in, and an overnight stay.
Morning: Breakfast · Check-out · Drive to Omkareshwar
Midday: Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Darshan
Afternoon: Drive to Maheshwar · Fort visit · Rajarajeshwari Temple · Optional saree shopping Evening: Drive to Indore · Hotel check-in · Overnight stay
Day 3
Indore Sightseeing to Bangalore
A Meaningful Conclusion

The final day begins with darshan at Khajrana Ganesh Temple, one of central India’s most revered Ganesha temples and a deeply auspicious place to conclude a pilgrimage of such spiritual significance.

The morning continues with a visit to two of Indore’s most celebrated landmarks. Rajwada Palace, the historic royal palace of the Holkar dynasty, reflects the architectural ambition of the Maratha era in every detail. Lal Bagh Palace, built in the early twentieth century, blends European influences with Indian grandeur in a style that feels genuinely unexpected.

By afternoon, the group transfers to Indore Airport for the return flight to Bangalore.

IndiGo flight 6E-6744 departs Indore at 6:55 PM and arrives in Bengaluru at 8:55 PM.

You return home with the blessings of two Jyotirlingas, the memory of the Narmada at dusk, and something quieter, that is harder to name — the particular stillness that a well-made pilgrimage leaves behind.

Morning: Breakfast · Check-out · Khajrana Ganesh Temple Darshan Late Morning: Rajwada Palace · Lal Bagh Palace
Afternoon: Transfer to Indore Airport
Evening: Flight Indore → Bangalore (6:55 PM – 8:55 PM)

Best Time to Visit

October to March is the most comfortable time for this pilgrimage. The weather across Ujjain, Omkareshwar, and Indore is pleasant — cool mornings, manageable afternoons, and evenings that are genuinely beautiful on the Narmada ghats. The summer months bring significant heat to central India, and while the temples are open year-round, the experience is more comfortable in the cooler season.

If visiting during Mahashivaratri — the most significant festival at Mahakaleshwar — plan well in advance. The temple draws hundreds of thousands of devotees during this period, and accommodation and darshan coordination require early booking.

Why Travel with Shree Sai Holidays?

A Jyotirlinga pilgrimage is not the kind of trip where improvisation serves you well.
Darshan at Mahakaleshwar requires knowing the right timing. The ferry to Omkareshwar needs to be accounted for in the schedule. Maheshwar is easy to rush and deeply rewarding when it is not. And the return flight from Indore waits for no one.

We have organized this pilgrimage enough times to know where the experience lives — in the unhurried darshan, the quiet moment on the Narmada island, the fort at Maheshwar as the light changes over the river — and where it can be lost to poor planning.
Our job is to protect those moments for you.

When you travel with Shree Sai Holidays, every detail is taken care of before you board your flight in Bangalore. Your attention belongs entirely to the journey. Ours belongs entirely to making sure it goes exactly as it should.

    Questions & Answer

We’re committed to offering more than just products—we provide exceptional experiences.

Yes. All road travel is in comfortable A/C vehicles, the itinerary is thoughtfully spread over three days with adequate rest and meal breaks, and the pace at each temple remains unhurried. If you have specific requirements — dietary needs, mobility considerations, or anything else — please mention them at the time of booking, and we will accommodate them.

The Bhasma Aarti at Mahakaleshwar is one of the most sacred and sought-after rituals in the Jyotirlinga circuit — performed in the early hours of the morning with ash from cremation grounds. It requires advance booking and is subject to availability. Please enquire at the time of booking if you would like this included, and we will do our best to arrange it.

Omkareshwar is approximately 130 kilometres from Ujjain — about two and a half to three hours by road. The group travels by A/C vehicle on Day 2, with the journey factored into the day’s itinerary. A short ferry ride takes devotees from the riverbank to the island where the temple is located.

Maheshwar is famous across India for its handwoven Maheshwari silk sarees — lightweight, elegant, and crafted through a weaving tradition introduced during the eighteenth century under the patronage of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar. Time for optional shopping is built into the Day 2 itinerary for those who wish to explore the local weavers’ shops.
